If you have specific sensitive data you would like Netskope One DSPM to protect, but those types of data aren’t included in the default list of sensitive data, you can create a custom sensitive data type.
To create a custom sensitive data type, click on Classification > Sensitive Data Types in the left nav to create a custom sensitive data type. You will see a list of all custom sensitive data types currently added to your Netskope One DSPM instance.

- Click Create Sensitive Data Type.
- Input a name for the sensitive data type.
- Select the Sensitive Data Type Category from the dropdown. You can choose an existing category, categorize it as “not sensitive," or Create a New Category with a custom name and description.
- Add a description as needed.
- Mark the Display as Masked checkbox to make the masked icon appear on both the Sensitive Data Types and Classification Management screens.

- Set the Sensitivity Level for your Custom Sensitive Data Type: not sensitive, low, medium, or high.
- Optionally, use the Data Tags dropdown to select relevant tags for this Custom Sensitive Data Type or click the Create New Tag button to create your own.
- Optionally, under Match Conditions, you can apply keyword and/or content conditions used in classification to improve the accuracy of detecting sensitive data.
- Input regex or exact words for Keywords matching.
- Input regex or use a data dictionary for Content matching.
- Click Save to complete creating your custom sensitive data type.
After you create a custom sensitive data type:
- You can classify a field with that sensitive data type. Click on Classification → Sensitive Data Types in the left navigation. All custom sensitive data types are listed here, and you can change classifications accordingly.
- On the Data Classification page, you can filter searches by custom sensitive data type by clicking on the filter button above the table. The filter panel will then appear.
- On the Dashboard and Alerts pages, alerts will appear for any queries with policies protecting these custom sensitive data types.
When taking action on a sensitive data type from the Classification Management page, you will see tooltip descriptors for: marking as reviewed, getting sample data, and reclassifying on the next scan.



This can help you improve performance and reduce unnecessary re-evaluation of your previously-classified data stores.
