    Licensing

    Overview

The Netskope One DSPM application requires a valid license before you can configure it to scan your data stores.  This articles explains how to manage your usage of the system to stay within your licensed capacities.

The Licensing page displays the following information:

    • Your license details, including its expiration date
    • Reports that compare licensed capacity to usage

The system will behave in more-restrictive manners are you you approach or exceed your licensed capacities.  In cases where you need to increase your license capacities, please reach out to Netskope Support or your account representative for assistance.

    Number of Data Stores Report

This report will display a daily count of data stores connected over time.  This is for informational purposes only and helps you understand your usage of the Netskope One DSPM application over time.

    Number of Objects Report

This report will display two metrics:

    • A line reflecting your licensed object capacity
    • A daily count of objects from connected data stores over time

An object is either a structured field / column or unstructured file / object.  The total count reflects objects classified during all data store scans, both initial and ongoing (scheduled or manual).

Data stores can be connected as long as capacity is available.  Once capacity is reached, you cannot connect additional data store stores until you either:

    • Increase you licensed capacity; and/or
    • Free up capacity by disconnecting data stores (by moving them from the Connected tab to the Archived tab)

Data stores already connected before capacity was exceeded will continue to be scanned, if they are enrolled in an Auto-Scan schedule.  This includes cataloging any new delta objects that are identified.  This ensures that your existing connected data store remain secure & protected while you make decisions about your license capacity.

Number of Data Stores with Query Analysis Enabled Report

If you have purchased the optional Query Analysis product, this report will display two metrics:

    • A line reflecting your licensed data store capacity
    • A daily count of connected data stores over time configured to use the Data In Use Monitoring capability

The number of data stores can never exceed capacity.  Once capacity is reached, you cannot configure Data In Use Monitoring on additional data stores until you either:

    • Increase you licensed capacity; and/or
    • Free up capacity by turning off Data In Use Monitoring on a connected data store

Note: whenever the Data In Use Monitoring capability is unavailable, the Shadow Data Analysis capability is also unavailable, as the latter is dependent on the former.

    When Your License Expires

All Netskope One DSPM licenses have an expiration date, which is displayed as the License Expiration Date on the Licensing screen.

As this expiration date approaches, the Netskope One DSPM application will display on-screen messages reminding you to renew.  Once past the expiration date, the application will go into read-only mode.  While you can continue to access historical information, no further configurations or new data store connections can be performed, and all data stores scans will pause (scheduled or manually-initiated).

To continue monitoring and protection of your data, please reach out to Netskope Support or your account representative for assistance with renewing your license.
